The Farmington Music Department provides opportunities for students to experience community service, college, and career exploration.Guest speakers and field trips are provided for career exploration. In the photo above music students work with a college conductor rehearsing new music literature.(Pictured above is Dr. Gaylon Robinson, CCSU music professor, working with student musicians.)
Our high school ensembles regularly perform at area universities mentored by college professors performing with college students. The opportunity to perform together, discuss college life and tour the campus are key learning
experiences for our musicians as they look ahead.
FHS musicians perform-ed with the UConn orchestras and choirs in a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at Jorgensen Hall.
Additionally the music department is committed to promoting citizenship through community service involvement. Student musicians regularly share their talents with community groups such as the senior center, veterans, social services, the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce and area museums. Below hear an original music jingle created by students to promote the town blood drive for the Red Cross.
