Music in Our Schools
Inspiring Young Musicians to Create,
Communicate, and Collaborate
Welcome to the Farmington Public Schools music department webpage. Our mission is for all students to master musical literacy in order to communicate with others through performing and responding and ultimately develop their own creative capacity. Our students learn to think critically and set goals

The Connecticut Arts Administrators Association presented the Farmington Public Schools music program with the Excellence in Arts Education Award at the Connecticut State Capitol. This award celebrates the district's dedicated music teachers, talented young musicians and comprehensive music programming in a town that embraces the arts. Additionally the Town of Farmington and our public school music department received the national honor of Best Communities for Music Education for the town’s support of the music in the schools and the exemplary music program.
Through this webpage we hope to communicate effectively with students, parents and community partners. We encourage you to use this site as your source of information about in-school programs, district-wide, community, and co-curricular activities. Students and parents will find calendars of events, student forms, staff information and more. There is a link to our Friends of Music organization, a parent support group welcoming all music parents to membership. Many individual teachers have developed web pages that support teaching and learning in the classroom. Select your teacher’s name in the staff section for their profile and contact information. If you have additional questions, please contact me through my email.
